Single Burning Item Fire Testing Equipment

1. Application

Single Burning Item Test Apparatus is suitable for evaluating the fire performance of flat building products. A single combustion test method (SBI) is used for walls and roofing products.

2. Implementation of standards

The design of this instrument meets the requirements of GB/T 20284-2006, ISO 5725-1(2):1994, GB/T 16839.1, GB/T 6379.1-2004, GB/T 6379.2-2004, EN 136011, EN 13238.

3. Principle of use

(1) The sample consists of two vertically erected samples intersecting at right angles and exposed to the flame of the burner ("main burner") below the bottom corner of the sample. The flame was obtained by propane gas combustion and injection through a sandbox and had a heat output of (30.7±2.0) kW.

(2) Evaluate the performance of the sample within 20 min after ignition. These performance parameters are: heat, smoke, horizontal flame spread, and burning drip/particles.

(3) Generally only measure the heat output of the burner for a short period of time before the main burner is ignited, using a burner ("auxiliary burner") that is the same as the main burner away from the sample.

(4) Some depend on observations such as ambient temperature, flue gas temperature, and humidity. Some measurements are made automatically, such as pressure differentials, sensors installed on the exhaust pipe to measure temperature in the pipe, gas flow, and attenuation of light. These quantities are ultimately automatically recorded and used to calculate the values of FIGRA, THR600, SMOGRA, TSP600.
