European Standard: EN 13501-1 - Determination of combustion levels of building products and components

European Standard: EN 13501-1 - Determination of combustion levels of building products and components

The following content will explain the standard EN 13501-1 for determining the combustion rating of building products and components:

EN 13501-1 Determination of combustion levels of building products and components – Standard name:

  • EN 13501-1:2007:Fire classification of construction products and building elements-Part1: Classification using data from reaction to fire tests

  • EN 13501-1:2007: Fire classification of building products and components - Part 1: Classification using test data on reaction to fire

EN 13501-1 Determination of combustion levels of building products and components - Overview of the standard:
With the continuous deepening and development of research in the fields of fire science and fire engineering, the connotation of combustion characteristics has also expanded from simple flame propagation and spread to include combustion heat release rate, combustion heat release amount, combustion smoke density and combustion product toxicity and other parameters. The grading system of EN 13501-1 actively considers the above characteristic parameters and is therefore more scientific. At the same time, EN 13501-1 stipulates some test methods that take into account both actual fire scenarios and the final use of the materials, so they are more realistic and representative.

EN 13501-1 Determination of combustion levels of building products and components - Scope of application of the standard :

  • products and building materials (except flooring materials and pipes)

  • Floor materials (flooring, floor paving materials, etc.)

  • pipeline
