American Standard: ASTM E662 – Combustion Smoke Density Test of Aircraft Materials

material flame retardant test, fire test-smoke density test: ASTM E662

  • ASTM E662: Standard test Method for specific optical density of smoke generated by solid materials

  • ASTM E662: Standard test method for specific optical smoke density production

material flame retardant test, fire test ASTM E662 - Smoke density test
 ASTM E662 Smoke Density Test-Introduction
ASTM E 662 (NBS Smoke Box Method) measures smoke generated by solid materials by determining the attenuation of a light beam.

ASTM E662 Smoke Density Test-Test Method
The samples need to be dried at 60°C for 24 hours and placed at a temperature of 23°C and a humidity of 50%
The following parameters will be determined:
- Ds 1.5 Optical density after 1.5 minutes
- Ds 4.0 Optical density after 4 minutes
