     FAR25.853 60° combustion test – Introduction

The ignition source for this test is also the same as the horizontal burning test. The test is conducted in a combustion chamber with an open door, or in a test chamber of 300mm×300mm×600mm (height) with the top and sides open. Aviation insulators, electrical conductors and cables should be tested by this test.

FAR25.853 60° combustion test - test method

There are three specimens for the test, counting from the place where the fire source is applied, and markings on the head and tail ends. The specimen is placed at an angle of 60°. Combustion test with ignition source at the same level. Apply flame time.
Test the following items:
- Burning length
- Open burning time
- Droplet self-extinguishing time
Later, some additional tests were added to FAR25, which put forward more stringent fire protection requirements for materials and components used in aircraft. Such as seat cushion fire resistance test, flame penetration test of cargo hold and luggage compartment lining materials, OSU heat release test and NBS smoke generation test, etc.

material flame retardant testing, fire testing – other relevant standards
