16 CFR 1632 Mattress Burning Performance Standard

16 CFR 1632 Mattress Burning Performance Standard:
The mattress flammability test specified in 16 CFR 1632 was promulgated by the United States and implemented in every state in the United States. This test is used to measure the resistance of mattresses to the ignition of cigarettes. It is suitable for products that are developed but have not yet entered the market, and is also used for quality (flame retardant) control of sold products. During the test, a burning cigarette is placed on certain parts of the horizontally placed mattress to test whether the mattress meets certain flame retardant requirements.

CPSC 16 CFR 1632: Consumer Product Safety Regulation Part 1632 - Combustion Performance Standard for Mattresses

16 CFR 1632 Test Method
According to the provisions of 16 CFR 1632, during the experiment, a burning cigarette is first placed on the surface of the exposed mattress to test its flammability, then the mattress is covered with a sheet, and the sheet is rolled up and folded under the mattress. Then place the burning cigarette on the bed sheet (the middle and edge of the mattress). After the cigarette is placed, immediately cover it with another bed sheet, but at the place where the cigarette is placed, pins (or other similar objects) should be used to hold the sheet above it. Lift it out of contact with cigarettes.
